"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Gómez, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.
"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."
The Niagara Falls hurler held El Paso scoreless, allowed 2 hits, chalked up 6 strikeouts and yielded 1 walk.
So far in 22 appearances this season, Gómez has recorded 12 wins and sustained 5 losses. He has pitched 160.1 innings, yielded 139 hits, fanned 122 and has a 3.14 ERA. | | Injury Setback Forces Ron Walters Into Retirement Saturday, August 28th, 2010: Shreveport reliever Ron Walters has been diagnosed with a torn triceps, an injury so severe that will end his baseball career.
