Louisville First Baseman Picked SOBL Player of the Week
Monday, August 30th, 2010: One of the league's most exciting young players, Craig Rogers of the Louisville Storm earned himself Stats Only Baseball League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 24-year-old first baseman had a lofty .500 average (11-22), collecting 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

Batting .291 to date, Rogers has 10 home runs and 47 RBIs.
Gómez Tosses Shutout
Sunday, August 29th, 2010: In an impressive outing, Tony Gómez whitewashed the El Paso Toros 9-0.

"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Gómez, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.

"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."

The Niagara Falls hurler held El Paso scoreless, allowed 2 hits, chalked up 6 strikeouts and yielded 1 walk.

So far in 22 appearances this season, Gómez has recorded 12 wins and sustained 5 losses. He has pitched 160.1 innings, yielded 139 hits, fanned 122 and has a 3.14 ERA.
Injury Setback Forces Ron Walters Into Retirement
Saturday, August 28th, 2010: Shreveport reliever Ron Walters has been diagnosed with a torn triceps, an injury so severe that will end his baseball career. "It's very disappointing," Walters told reporters today. "It was totally unexpected, which makes it a little bit harder to deal with." Doctors originally thought he would have a full recovery. The 34-year-old Walters has been in treatment and reported he was making great progress, when things suddenly went sour. He told BNN, "It went from good to bad... and then finally, to the worst case - doctors said my career is over."

During this season he has made 21 relief appearances, earning a 1-0 record with 1 save. In 29 innings Walters has struck out 44 with a 2.48 ERA.
