The SOBL and Baseball News Network announced today that the BNN will remain the sole broadcast network for the SOBL through the end of the playoffs for the 2011 season. The existing contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the 2009 post season. The size of the media contract has been the topic of discussion for many owners recently given the SOBL's current financial situation. SOBL Commissioner John Armenia had this to say about the contract. "The new contract should help the SOBL increase visibility and attendance by promising to put more games on both national and local television while at the same time bring in more media revenue because of increased advertising."

The contract is rumored to be for a total of 17.2 million with each team averaging about $815,000 the first year and $905,000 for the second year.

When contacted for comment, the head of the SOBLPA said "More money coming into the league is good for everyone, both the owners and players. I'm sure the new contract will be part of the discussion during the next CBA." It should be noted the CBA between the SOBL and SOBLPA expires at the end of the 2010 season.
